Circa 1960s | Ceramic
An "Archais" white bisque ceramic vase by Heinrich Fuchs for Hutschenreuther features a unique design and tantalizing lines. Heinrich Fuchs is particularly noted for his OP Art designs; from 1965-1970. Fuchs created a totally new aesthetic in porcelain for the prestigious Hutschenreuther manufactory. He is also well known for his Calabash and Archais series, which consisted of 15 different vases, each featuring a natural or geometric repeating surface, as well as bark and seashell textural surfaces, all glazed in matte or a clear gloss on white ground. This vase’s design curves and splinters on the sides with contrasting simple sleek sides. The unique curves and ridges create great
texture and play with lighting to create interesting highlights and shadows.
