Circa 1970s | Enamel, copper, wood
A range of Brutalist craft pieces were created in Mallorca, Spain in the 1970s, including plates, clocks, and decorative boxes. An excellent example: this vintage, handmade Brutalist trinket box, which features a copper lid covered with an assemblage of abstract, slightly raised shapes in multicolored enamel. The design features raised, circular enamels inset on the organically shaped, rustic dark wood sides. Glistening in bold shades of orange, blue, green, and gold, the rounded enamels suggest melted marbles under water, or even swirling astronomical nebulae.
